Florida leads the way with 29 players to score a touchdown in the big game including Super Bowl XXVIII MVP Emmitt Smith.

Since Max McGee of the Green Bay Packers scored the first touchdown in Super Bowl history, 227 additional players have found the end zone in football’s biggest game.

McGee hails from White Oak (Texas) and is one of 24 players from the Lone Star State to score on Super Sunday.

Florida has produced the most Super Bowl scorers with 29 players including legendary running backs Frank Gore and Emmitt Smith. The latter made three trips to the big game and scored five touchdowns in those victories.

California is second with 25 touchdown scorers including John Elway and Marshawn Lynch. Elway played for a Lombardi Trophy five times in his career and had four rushing touchdowns, including his famous Helicopter Spin in Super Bowl XXXII.

Of the 228 total players to score a Super Bowl touchdown, 222 different schools are represented. Dillard (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.), Dorsey (Los Angeles, Calif.), Aliquippa (Aliquippa, Pa.) and Rancocas Valley (Mt. Holly, N.J.) are the only schools to have two players on this list.

St. Thomas Aquinas is represented by James White and Michael Irvin. White scored three touchdowns — including the game-winner in overtime — as the Patriots clawed back from a 28-3 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in Super Bowl LI.

Marcus Allen and Terrell Davis are the touchdown scorers from Lincoln. The Hall of Famers combined for 22,337 yards with 206 touchdowns on the ground between the regular season and playoffs. They both played their best in the final game of the season. Allen was named Super Bowl XVIII MVP after carrying the rock 20 times for 191 yards and two scores. In Super Bowl XXXII, Davis was named MVP after rushing 30 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns.

In total, 38 states and Washington D.C. have produced a player that has scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
