Football Recap: Jackson Heights Starts off Right with Win over Riverside [Wathena/Elwood]

Jackson Heights gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] Cyclones a 21-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Cobras in their matchups with the Cyclones: they've now won three in a row.

Jackson Heights can attribute much of their success to Drake Mellies, who rushed for 84 yards and one score, and also threw for 40 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Tatum Eisenbarth, who rushed for 100 yards on only ten carries.

Coming up, Jackson Heights will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Atchison County at 7:00 p.m.
