Jose Samienago was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Francis is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 13-14 otherwise.
On the hitting side, St. Francis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Mcgrath, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bartlett never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Ridgewood.
Vince Yario was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ryan Raethz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bartlett has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. St. Francis hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bartlett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
St. Francis was able to grind out a solid victory over Bartlett in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 8-4. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
