Baseball Game Preview: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs vs. York Dukes

The Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the York Dukes at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Berwyn/Cicero Morton is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Mustangs on Friday. Berwyn/Cicero Morton fell just short of St. Rita by a score of 2-1.

York came out on top against Glenbard West on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Dukes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over the Hilltoppers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dukes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jaiden Shah looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madden Taylor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Winton, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton's loss dropped their record down to 9-21. As for York, their win bumped their record up to 12-15.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton was able to grind out a solid victory over York when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
