High school baseball: 2024 MaxPreps Underclass All-America Teams

Hernandez, the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year, was the Southern Section Division 1 Player of the Year after leading Corona to a section championship and a No. 3 overall ranking in the MaxPreps Top 25. He went 9-0 on the mound and also was one of the leading hitters for the Panthers with .352 batting average.

Sampson earns MaxPreps National Sophomore Player of the Year honors after leading Tomball to a Texas Class 6A state championship. One of the winningest pitchers in the nation, he posted a 14-0 record with 115 strikeouts. Tomball finished the season ranked No. 2 in the nation by MaxPreps.



The 30 members of each of the three underclass All-American teams are selected based on their performance this year along with their potential to play at the next level.
Junior All-America Team

NATIONAL JUNIOR OF THE YEAR
P — Seth Hernandez, Corona (Calif.), 6-4, 195
Ranked No. 1 in his class in the state of California by Perfect Game, he led the Panthers to a Southern Section Division 1 championship. Paced team in home runs (8) and RBI (34) while batting .352. The MaxPreps California Player of the Year led the Corona pitching staff with a 9-0 record while posting a 0.62 ERA and 73 strikeouts.

P — Kruz Schoolcraft, Sunset (Portland, Ore.), 6-8, 215
Led the Apollos to the Class 6A state finals. He went 10-1 on the mound with a 0.39 ERA and 146 strikeouts in 71.2 innings. the No. 1 state prospect allowed just 19 walks and gave up four earned runs.

P — Zion Theophilus, Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio), 6-2, 196
Earned All-State honors by the state coaches association while posting a 9-0 record with a 0.47 ERA in 45 innings. He gave up just three earned runs and nine walks while striking out 72 batters.

P — Blake Ilitch, Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), 6-4, 210
Named to the Michigan Baseball Coaches Association Dream Team, Ilitch led the Warrior pitching staff with a 9-0 record, a 0.63 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 66.1 innings.

P — Brett Crossland, Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, Ariz.), 6-5, 241
An All-State selection by the Arizona Republic, he led the Pride with an 8-1 record that included 94 strikeouts and a 2.24 ERA in 56.1 innings.



P — Josh Hammond, Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.), 6-1, 215
The Trojans reached the NCISAA Class 4A finals behind the pitching of Hammond, who went 6-1 with 44 strikeouts, 2.262 ERA in 32 innings. The NCISAA All-State pick also batted .365 with 28 runs, 25 RBI, eight doubles and five home runs.

P — Jake Sekany, Granada (Livermore, Calif.), 6-1, 140
Named to the All-Bay Area team by the Bay Area News Group, he posted a 10-1 record with a 1.82 ERA, 88 strikeouts and 11 walks in 72 innings for the NorCal Division 1 regional champions.

P — Mason Pike, Puyallup (Wash.), 6-0, 195
The Vikings reached the Class 4A state finals behind the two-way play of Pike. He went 8-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 59.2 innings. He also batted .431 with 12 runs, 11 RBI and four doubles. Pike was the South Puget Sound Conference Player of the Year.

P — JoJo Parker, Purvis (Miss.), 6-2, 195
A Class 4A All-State selection like his brother Jake, JoJo batted .464 with 53 runs, 28 RBI, 10 doubles and seven home runs. He also went 5-0 with a 2.40 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 49.2 innings.

P — Brenden Lewis, Granite Hills (El Cajon, Calif.), 5-10, 165
The San Diego Section Player of the Year, he led the Eagles on the mound and at the plate. He batted .382 with 19 runs, 17 RBI, five doubles and three home runs. He also went 9-3 with a 0.80 ERA, 71 strikeouts, and 11 walks in 78.1 innings.

C — Luke Billings, Prosper (Texas), 6-2, 190
Named first team All-Area by the Dallas Morning News, he also made the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 6A All-State team. He batted .341 with 16 doubles, a triple and six home runs. He also knocked in 21 runs, scored 16 runs and walked 40 times.

C — Zack Johnson, Bob Jones (Madison, Ala.), 6-1, 195
Among the national leaders in RBI with 65, he earned Class 7A Hitter of the Year honors by the Alabama Sports Writers Association after batting .384 with 11 doubles, three triples and five home runs.



C — Cal Miller, Viewmont (Bountiful, Utah), 5-11, 190
Led the state with 11 home runs and finished with a .543 batting average, 41 runs scored, 38 RBI, seven doubles and two triples. On the hill, Miller was 6-0 with a 1.67 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.

1B — Braiden Reynolds, La Cueva (Albuquerque, N.M.), 6-2, 190
The two-way player finished the season as the national leader in RBI with 69, which also set a new state record. The MaxPreps New Mexico Player of the Year batted .551 (54 for 98) with 28 runs scored, 17 doubles, two triples and nine home runs. Reynolds went 10-1 with a 61 strikeouts in 61 innings.

1B — Jarett Boswell, Grapevine (Texas), 5-10, 150
Boswell earned All-State honors by the Teas High School Baseball Coaches Association and made the Dallas Morning News All-Area team after leading the Mustangs to a Class 5A state championship. He batted .398 with 34 runs, 38 RBI, 13 doubles, two triples and a home run.

IF — Ethan Holliday, Stillwater (Okla.), 6-4, 210
Perfect Game's No. 1-ranked player in his class, he earned state Player of the Year honors from The Oklahoman. The son of former MLB All-Star Matt Holiday, Ethan batted .409 with 40 RBI and 12 home runs.

IF — Mason Scott, Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.), 6-3, 180
The Colorado Class 5A state Player of the Year led Cherry Creek to a state championship. He batted .439 with 31 runs, 32 RBI eight doubles, six triples and two home runs.

IF — Billy Carlson, Corona, 6-1, 175
Named to the All-Southern Section Division 1 team and the Press-Enterprise All-Area team for the Southern Section champions. He batted .367 with 29 runs, 21 RBI, 10 doubles, two triples and four home runs.



IF — Kayson Cunningham, Johnson (San Antonio), 5-10, 178
The San Antonio News-Express Player of the Year also made the THSBCA All-State team. He batted .437 with 12 doubles, eight triples, 36 stolen bases and 37 walks.

IF — Jack Ruckert, Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.), 6-1, 185
The Bears' shortstop made the Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State team and was the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Hitter of the Year. He batted .456 with 40 RBI and 40 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples and five home runs.

IF — Boston Kellner, Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 6-0, 205
The 6A Conference Player of the Year by the state association batted .462 while scoring 43 runs and driving home 29. He also had 14 doubles, one triple and 12 home runs.

OF — Xavier Neyens, Mount Vernon (Wash.), 6-4, 205
The Class 5A Player of the Year in Southern Nevada, Southisene batted .576 with 40 runs, 49 RBI, 10 doubles, four triples and seven home runs.

OF — Jaden Fauske, Nazareth Academy (LaGrange Park, Ill.), 6-2, 205
OF — Jacob Parker, Purvis (Miss.), 6-4, 210
The twin brother of JoJo Parker, Jacob led Purvis to the Class 4A state finals and made the Class 4A All-State team by the Mississippi Association of Coaches. He batted .422 with 27 runs, 35 RBI, 12 doubles and five home runs.



OF — Trevor Goldenetz, Huntington Beach (Calif.), 6-0, 180
Named to the Southern Section All-Division 1 team and the Orange County Register's All-County team, Goldenetz led the Oilers with a .394 batting average with a team-high 37 basehits and 27 runs scored. He also had 11 RBI, 10 doubles and one triple.

OF — Ty Peeples, Franklin County (Carnesville, Ga.), 6-2, 185
An All-State selection by the Georgia Dugout Club, he hit .459 with 56 runs, 35 RBI, nine doubles, two triples and nine home runs.

UT — Coy James, Davie (Mocksville, N.C.), 6-0, 185
Named to the Class 4A All-State team by the state coaches association, James batted .413 with 29 runs, 14 RBI, nine doubles, two triples and two home runs.

UT — Jason Fultz, Cathedral Prep (Erie, Pa.), 6-2, 205
The District 10 Player of the Year was a force at the plate with a .523 batting average, 28 runs, 39 RBI, six doubles and 11 home runs. He also went 7-1 with a 0.35 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 40 innings.

UT — Julius Rosado, South River (N.J.), 6-0, 205
A member of the NJ.com All-State team, Rosado was one of the top power hitters in the state with 14 home runs, seven doubles and two triples. He batted.594 with 44 runs and 34 RBI. He also pitched and had a 5-2 record with four shutouts, 80 strikeouts and a 1.57 ERA.

Sophomore All-America Team

NATIONAL SOPHOMORE OF THE YEAR
P — C.J. Sampson, Tomball (Texas), 6-3, 210
The top pitcher for the Class 6A state champions earned Class 6A All-State second team honors with a 14-0 record, 115 strikeouts and a 0.75 ERA in 93.2. He also batted .374 with 13 doubles, 35 RBI and three home runs.



P — Matthew Sharman, Etowah (Woodstock, Ga.), 6-3, 200
Earning All-State honors by the Georgia Dugout Club for the Class 5A state champions, Sharman had an 8-0 record with a 0.34 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 62 innings. He hit .374 with 20 runs scored, 27 RBI, five doubles, one triple and two home runs.

P — Ethan Wheeler, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.), 6-5, 210
Earned All-First Coast honors by the Times Union while posting a 5-0 record with a 0.91 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 46.1 innings.

P — Carson Bolemon, Southside Christian (Simpsonville, S.C.), 6-4, 210
The Class 1A state Player of the Year by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association, he led the Sabres to a state championship. He batted .483 with 19 runs, 30 RBI, 13 doubles and three home runs. He was 10-0 with 120 strikeouts in 49.2 innings with a 0.42 ERA, 11 walks and only three earned runs.

P — Parker Granse, Pensacola Catholic (Pensacola, Fla.), 6-4, 175
Went 10-0 with a 2.03 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 51.2 innings. He earned a spot on the News Journal's Al-Area team in Pensacola.

P — Brayden Harris, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.), 6-2, 190
Harris made the All-First Coast Team by the Times Union with a 4-0 record, a 1.22 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 51.2 innings.

P — Gio Rojas, Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.), 6-3, 185
Saw limited duty for the Eagles, but he was unbeatable when he took the mound. The All-Broward County selection by the Miami Herald had a 4-0 record with 41 strikeouts and a 0.66 ERA in 21.1 innings.



P — Bo Holloway, Nolensville (Tenn.), 6-5, 205
Earning All-State honors by the Tennessee Baseball Report, Holloway had 94 strikeouts in 50.2 innings with a 7-2 record and 1.79 ERA.

P — Cam Norton, Central (Phenix City, Ala.), 5-3, 164
The top pitcher for the Class 7A finalists posted an 11-1 record with a 1.73 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 64.2 innings. He earned All-State honors by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

P — Chase Kiker, Metrolina Christian Academy (Indian Trail, N.C.), 5-9, 145
In leading the Warriors to the NCISAA Class 4A championship, Kiker posted an 11-2 record with a 0.86 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 73.2 innings. He also batted .440 with 20 runs, 29 RBI, eight doubles and four home runs.

C — John Stowers, St. Paul's Episcopal (Mobile, Ala.), 6-0, 195
The Class 4A Hitter of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association led the state in home runs with 14. He batted .390 with 20 runs, 45 RBI and eight doubles.

C — Brady Murrietta, Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), 5-10, 185
Named to the Orange County Register All-County team, he hit .311 with 13 runs, 16 RBI, five doubles, one triple and two home runs.

C — Andrew Costello, Cathedral Prep (Erie, Pa.), 5-10, 190
Earned All-District 10 honors and All-State honors by the Associated Press after batting .573 with 45 runs, 34 RBI, 12 doubles, three triples and seven home runs.

1B — Dax Hardcastle, St. Mary's (Stockton, Calif.), 6-3, 220
An all-conference pick for the Rams after leading St. Mary's to the Northern California Division 1 regional championship game. He batted .343 with 26 runs, 31 RBI, nine doubles, one triple and three home runs.



1B — Cody Boshell, Bishop Snyder (Jacksonville, Fla.), 6-2, 215
Boshell landed on the All-First Coast Team by the Times Union while batting .345 with 20 runs, 27 RBI, eight doubles, one triple and three home runs.

IF — Brody Schumaker, Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), 5-10, 165
The Trinity League MVP batted .383 and made the Orange County Register's All-County first team.

IF — Gavin Byrd, Lakeland Christian (Lakeland, Fla.), 6-2, 185
Earned a spot on the All-Polk County team by the Lakeland Ledger after batting .423 with 29 runs, 39 RBI, four doubles and seven home runs.

IF — Steele Hall, Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, Ala.),5-11, 160
The Trussville Tribune All-Area Player of the Year also made the Class 7A All-State team. He batted .331 with 31 stolen bases and 23 runs scored.

IF — Brady Marshall, Reagan (Pfafftown, N.C.), 5-11, 180
A Class 4A All-State nod from the state coaches association, he batted .424 with 33 runs, 28 RBI, 11 doubles and four home runs.

IF — Keon Johnson, First Presbyterian Day (Macon, Ga.), 6-2, 194
The top player in Georgia by Perfect Game in his class batted .434 this year with 40 runs scored, 34 RBI, four doubles, two triples and six home runs.



IF — Tyler Spangler, De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 6-3, 188
One of the top shortstops in the San Francisco Bay Area, he earned All-Bay Area honors by the Bay Area News Group. He batted .364 with 23 runs, 21 RBI, three doubles and four home runs.

OF — Troy Southisene, Basic (Henderson, Nev.), 5-10, 160
One of four Southisene brothers on the Basic team this year, Troy earned All-Southern Nevada honors after batting .450 with 42 runs, 31 RBI, nine doubles and two triples.

OF — Kevin Roberts, Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.), 6-5, 210
Ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 5 in the nation in his class by Perfect Game, he batted .333 with 33 runs, 32 RBI, six doubles and three home runs for the MAIS Class 6A state champions. He also had a 5-1 record with a 2.28 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.

OF — Brady Harris, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville), 6-2 | 180
Made the All-First Coast Team by the Times-Union while batting .371 with 18 runs, 18 RBI, two doubles and five home runs.

OF — Anthony Murphy, Corona, 6-0, 180
Made the All-Southern Section Division 1 team and the Riverside Press-Enterprise All-Area team after batting .390 with 36 runs, 24 RBI, seven doubles, three triples and six home runs.

OF — Randy Ruiz, Windermere (Fla.), 5-9, 179
A member of the Class 7A finalists and earned Orlando Sentinel All-Area honors after batting .396 with 28 runs, 35 RBI, six doubles and three home runs.



OF — Sterling Coaxum, Hanahan (S.C.), 6-0, 175
The Class 3A state Player of the Year by the coaches association, he helped the Hawks to the state championship game. He batted .404 with 41 runs, 34 RBI, seven doubles, four triples and 10 home runs.

UT — Joey Lawson, Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, Fla.), 6-2, 200
Earned Fort Myers News Press All-Area honors, batting .446 with 28 runs, 40 RBI, 13 doubles and five home runs. He also had a 7-3 record with 71 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA in 52 innings.

UT — Eli Willits, Fort Cobb-Broxton (Fort Cobb, Okla.), 6-1, 175
Although he has reclassified to the Class of 2025, Willits made the Oklahoman All-State team as a sophomore with a .614 batting average and 10 home runs.

UT — Tait Reynolds, Queen Creek (Queen Creek, Ariz.), 6-3, 195
Also the varsity quarterback as a sophomore, Reynolds led the baseball team to a Class 6A state championship and earned 6A All-Region honors. He batted .408 with 34 runs, 27 RBI, 10 doubles, two triples and two home runs.

Freshman All-America Team

NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
P — Drew Davis, Sumrall (Miss.), 6-0, 170
An All-State selection for the Class 4A state champions, he went 8-3 with a 1.92 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. He also batted .355 with 35 runs, 30 RBI, seven doubles, two triples and four home runs.

P — Eli Hilling, PikeView (Princeton, W. Va.), 5-9, 145
The Class AA All-State pickled the state with 146 strikeouts, including a high of 20 in one game. He also had a 1.66 ERA and a 10-2 record in 80 innings.



P — Briar Persing, Montgomery (Pa.), 6-0, 190
Named the conference Player of the Year and honored as All-State by the Associated Press. He batted .367 with 26 runs, 29 RBI, four doubles, three triples and two home runs. He also went 6-0 with a 1.53 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 50.1 innings.

P — Aiden Pack, Brother Rice, 6-1, 170
Named to the All-Catholic League team, Pack went undefeated for the Warriors. He posted a 7-0 record with a 1.80 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 35 innings.

P — Will Hayes, Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), 6-3, 190
Earned Class 5A All-State honors with a 6-0 record, a 1.31 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 32 innings.

P — Jackson Fetters, China Spring (Texas), 6-2, 180
The Newcomer of the Year on the Super CenTex team by the Waco Herald. He went 9-1 on the mound for the Cougars, posting 61 strikeouts in 63 innings with a 2.44 ERA.

P — Trent Buckley, Columbia Academy (Columbia, Miss.), 6-5, 200
Named to the All-MAIS team, Buckley struck out 80 batters, had a 1.72 ERA in 44 innings. He also batted .389 with 32 RBI, seven doubles and seven home runs.

P — Luke Armijo, La Mirada (Calif.), 6-1, 200
Earned Orange County Register All-County honors after going 4-2 with a 1.89 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 37 innings. He also had a win over highly-ranked Corona.



P — Gabriel Norman, Rockledge (Fla.), 6-4, 190
Made the All-Space Coast team with a 7-0 record, a 0.68 ERA, and 79 strikeouts in 41.1 innings.

P — Matthew Westbrook, Alexander (Douglasville, Ga.), 6-1, 195
Named to the all-region team after posting a 4-4 record with a 2.98 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 49.1 innings.

C — Will Brick, Christian Brothers (Memphis, Tenn.), 6-1, 180
Led the Purple Wave to the Division II-AA championship game and earned a spot on the Commercial Appeal All-Area  team. He batted .330 on the season with 35 RBI.

C — Broder Katke, Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills), 6-1, 193
Rated among the top freshmen in Michigan by Perfect Game, he batted .295 for the Warriors with 31 RBI, 21 runs, 10 doubles and three home runs.

C — Maddux Lessard, Muskego (Wis.), 6-1, 187
Made the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-state second team. He batted .398 with 25 runs, 35 RBI, six doubles, seven triples and five home runs. He had two games with two home runs.

1B — Teagan Leach, Battlefield (Haymarket, Va.), 6-3, 210
Earned Class 6 All-State honors after batting .456 with 27 runs, 35 RBI, 13 doubles and four home runs. He also went 6-3 with a 2.48 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 42.1 innings.



1B — Carson Bruce, North Cobb Christian (Kennesaw, Ga.), 6-0, 205
Bruce got off to a slow star, but had a strong finish for the Class 2A state champions. He earned all-region honors while batting .361 with 19 runs, 23 RBI, seven doubles and a home run. He also had 32 strikeouts in 14.7 innings pitched.

IF — Chase Fuller, Lincoln (Tallahassee, Fla.), 6-3, 205
Rated as the No. 1 player in the nation for the Class of 2027 by Perfect Game, Fuller made the All-Big Bend team after batting .348 with 21 runs, 16 RBI, nine doubles and two home runs.

IF — Maxwell Hemenway, Puyallup, 6-0, 170
Named to the All-South Puget Sound Conference team, Hemenway is ranked as one of the top freshmen in the state of Washington. He batted .281 with 20 runs, 17 RBI, five doubles, one triple and one home run.

IF — Leo Nockley, Wyoming Seminary College Prep (Kingston, Pa.), 5-6, 150
Named to the Class 3A all-state team, Nockley led the Blue Knights with a .421 batting average that included 20 runs, eight doubles, two triples and one home run.

IF — Levi Leathers, Axtell (Texas), 6-3, 190
Named to the Waco Tribune's All-Super CenTex second team, Leathers batted .402 with 25 RBI, nine doubles, six triples and a home run.

IF — Dylan Seward, Norco (Calif.), 5-11, 160
An All-Area team nod by the Riverside Press-Enterprise as he batted .381 with 24 runs, 23 RBI, eight doubles, three triples and three home runs.

IF — Kayden Jaquez, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy (Melbourne, Fla.), 5-9, 185
Made the All-Space Coast team after batting .432 with 28 runs, 33 RBI, eight doubles and five triples.

OF — Caden Dawson, Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.), 6-2, 200
Dawson earned All-State honors from the Georgia Dugout Club after batting .381 with 28 runs, 35 RBI, six doubles, two triples and six home runs.



OF — Sebastian Wilson, Lane Tech (Chicago), 6-0, 185
Named to the All-Catholic League team and the Illinois Prep Baseball Report All-State team, he batted .422 with 50 runs, 41 RBI, 16 doubles, three triples and six home runs.

OF — Logan Hagman, Hudson (Wis.), 6-0, 175
Made the Wisconsin Coaches Association All-State second team. He batted .383 with 32 runs, 25 RBI, 10 doubles and four home runs.

OF — Stephen Bobo, Shelbyville Central (Tenn.), 5-10, 185
Named to the Tennessee Baseball Report Super Freshman team, Bobo batted .359 with 32 runs, 21 RBI, seven doubles and one home run.

OF — Brady Yates, Glendale (Springfield, Mo.), 6-0, 180
Although he didn't play on the varsity at the beginning of the season, Yates came on strong and made the Missouri Baseball Coaches Association All-State team. He batted .410 with 25 runs, 24 RBI, seven doubles, a triple and four home runs.

OF — Jake Cueto, Belen Jesuit (Miami, Fla.), 5-9, 155
Named to the All-Dade County team by the Miami Herald, he batted .403 with 26 runs, 15 RBI, nine doubles and two triples.

UT — Bryson Casto, Ripley (W. Va.), 5-10, 160
Earned Class AAA All-State honors after batting .410 with 35 runs, 22 RBI, seven doubles, one triple and one home run. He also went 7-1 with 40 strikeouts and a 1.49 ERA in 42.1 innings.

UT — Lash Henderson, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas), 6-4, 204
The district Offensive Player of the Year and an All-Area pick by the Dallas Morning News, Henderson batted .393 with six doubles, a triple and seven home runs. He also had 26 RBI and 28 runs scored.



UT — Blake Burchill, Saegertown (Pa.), 5-10, 170
The Rookie of the Year in District 10, Burchill also earned All-State honors by the Associated Press. He batted .549 with 36 runs, 35 RBI, 12 doubles, three triples and two home runs. He also had a 4-2 record with a 1.43 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
