Basketball Recap: Elk Grove Skates Past Futures with Ease

While Elk Grove didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-12 win over the Futures Knights. The Thundering Herd have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 31 points or more this season.

Mackenzie McEntee produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten steals. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlin Cutler, who posted seven points and three steals.

Elk Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Futures only posted three.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Elk Grove, bringing their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points on average over those games. As for Futures, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Elk Grove will take on Rosemont in a tournament on Saturday. As for Futures, they will be home for the holidays to greet Galt at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
