Softball Recap: South Gwinnett Comes Up Short

South Gwinnett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 16-0 to the Newton Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in August.

South Gwinnett's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Newton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

South Gwinnett and Newton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Comets will face off against Grovetown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (316 vs. 54). Meanwhile, Newton (ranked 186th) will meet Eastside (ranked second) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
