MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: No. 21 Cass Tech survives scare, beats King 35-19 for division title

No. 21 Cass Tech (Detroit, Mich.) survived a scare Friday night to win the PSL Blue Division title, beating King (Detroit, Mich.) 35-19. The Technicians scored 14 unanswered to pull away in the fourth quarter.

Up 21-19, Cass Tech (8-0)  got a defensive stand before Donald Tabron II and Mylan Griggs hooked up for a 35-yard score with eight minutes to play. Tabron then hit Will Sykes Jr. on a 99-yard touchdown strike with just over four minutes and a 35-19 Cass Tech lead.

The Technicians travel to Bedford (Temperance, Mich.) next Friday. 

The only MaxPreps Top 25 matchup went down in Southern California's Trinity League as No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) improved to 8-0 with a 27-14 win over No. 9 Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.). It was the Braves 16th straight win in the series. 

Sophomore quarterback Koa Malau'ulu continued his stellar season completing 17 of 22 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns. His 35-yard touchdown pass to four-star wide receiver Madden Williams extended the lead to 27-14 late in the third quarter. 

Up next for the Braves is Servite (Anaheim, Calif.) before a huge showdown against No. 11 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) on Oct. 31.

There was one MaxPreps Top 25 team in action Thursday night and it made quite an impression. No. 20 Bixby (Okla.) rolled to a 92-0 victory over Enid aided by four defensive and special teams touchdowns.

Bixby (7-0) has scored 56 points or more in six consecutive games, including 81 two weeks ago. The Spartans ran just 33 offensive plays Thursday but Enid could muster just 21 yards and turned it over four times.

Things should get more challenging for Bixby in the coming weeks with games against Mustang (5-2) and Norman (5-1).

Mater Dei bounced back with a 29-19 win over Servite after a 7-6 loss against Santa Margarita last week. The Monarchs improved to 5-2 and host JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) on Oct. 24.
