Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Victorious

Mater Dei lost to Civic Memorial back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 4-3. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Jack Reynolds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mater Dei is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-15 otherwise. Reynolds was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Avery Strader was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.

The win made it two in a row for Mater Dei and bumps their season record up to 15-17. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Civic Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will take on Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Civic Memorial, they will square off against Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
