Basketball Recap: Ballou Falls Short Against Ranked Banneker + How To Watch

Ballou faced Banneker in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The contest between the Knights and the Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Knights falling 66-50. The Knights were down 52-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Ballou saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taurean Ferrell posted 21 points. Ferrell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryheem Benton, who had 12 points.

Leading Banneker to victory were Amari Thomas and Jason Afeni. Thomas scored 19 points and seven rebounds, while Afeni put up 19 points. Thomas is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Antonio Reed Jr. was another key player, putting up seven points along with six assists and three steals.

Ballou's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Banneker, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.

Ballou has already played their next matchup, a 51-39 victory against Bell on the 12th. As for Banneker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-35 loss against Maret on the 11th.
