Football Recap: Espanola Valley Victorious + How To Watch

Espanola Valley's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Kirtland Central Broncos by a score of 35-28. The Sundevils haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Espanola Valley found their leader in freshman Isaiah Gallegos, who threw for 375 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Michael Maestas.

When it comes to explaining why Kirtland Central lost, don't look at Chance Aspaas. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, and also threw for 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Kayben Dowdy was Aspaas' top target, picking up 35 receiving yards, while also rushing for 48 yards and one score.

The win got Espanola Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Kirtland Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Espanola Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bloomfield at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. As for Kirtland Central, they will square off against Taos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
