Rushing attack carries the Trojans to Class 6A state title, No. 1 ranking.

The high school football season in Indiana came to a close last weekend with champions crowned in six classifications at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Center Grove (Greenwood) was among the winners, beating Carroll (Fort Wayne) in the Class 6A state title game. That victory helped propel the Trojans to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.

Relying on a rushing attack that churned out 302 yards in the title contest, Center Grove upended Carroll 35-9 last Friday to claim its fifth state football championship and the third in a row. Leading the way for the Trojans, Micah Coyle and Jalen Thomeson rushed for 132 and 128 yards, respectively.

Other IHSAA state champions that finished in the MaxPreps Top 25 include No. 5 East Central (St. Leon), No. 12 Bishop Chatard (Indianapolis), No. 14 Valparaiso and No. 20 Indianapolis Lutheran.
