Softball Recap: Brighton's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Brighton dropped down to 13-7 on Monday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 7-0 to the Riverdale Ridge Ravens. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since September 7, 2024.

As for Riverdale Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Riverdale Ridge's part, the result came thanks to Aubri Lerch's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. Lerch has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Peyton Saenz was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Samantha Simmons, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will face off against Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderhawks have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will challenge Boulder at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.32 runs per game on average), something the Ravens will no doubt try to take advantage of.
