Laurel gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 36-6 win over the Mohawk Area Warriors. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 24-point advantage.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Laurel, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brayden Faulkner, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Laurel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Tony Geiwitz.

Laurel has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 39.5 points this season. As for Mohawk Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Laurel will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bishop Canevin at 7:00 p.m. on September 12. As for Mohawk Area, they will challenge Shenango at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
