Basketball Game Preview: McCool Junction Mustangs vs. Sutton Mustangs

McCool Junction just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome Sutton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

McCool Junction is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing High Plains: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Mustangs blew the Storm out of the water with a 63-12 final score. With the Mustangs ahead 34-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, after only 28 points in their last game, Sutton made sure to put some points up on the board against H&H on Tuesday. The Mustangs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bearcats 80-44. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 23rd (when they won 82-44).

Sutton's win came from a few key players McCool Junction will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Payton Reed, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four). Jacob Huxoll was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

The victory got McCool Junction back to even at 1-1. As for Sutton, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
