Softball Recap: Brighton Starts Season with Victory Against Monarch

Brighton took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They skirted past the Monarch Coyotes 13-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since September 7, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Riley Doherty, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Suki Mizunaga, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Monarch is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Brighton has already played their next match, a 13-3 victory against Dakota Ridge on the 20th. As for Monarch, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-1 win against Boulder on the 21st.
