Softball Recap: Fort Lupton Takes a Loss

Fort Lupton extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-14. They lost 10-3 to the Centaurus Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in August.

As for Centaurus, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Centaurus' part, Nora Midness was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Midness has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Centaurus got a big performance out of Kaitlyn Long, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Morgan Sizemore was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Fort Lupton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 26-10 win against Bennett on the 2nd. As for Centaurus, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-7 victory against Arvada on the 2nd.
