Granite City and Springfield are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Warriors will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Springfield at 12:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Granite City fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Waterloo on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. The Warriors have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Timo Bradley put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Bradley wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Darin Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Springfield's offense. They lost 8-0 to Mt. Zion on Friday. The contest marked the first time this year in which Springfield was not able to get on the board.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 13-15.

Everything went Granite City's way against Springfield when the teams last played back in April, as Granite City made off with an 18-7 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
