Kearney Catholic was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Polk County on Saturday. The Stars put the hurt on the Slammers with a sharp 11-3 victory. The Stars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Raegan Ruyle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Claire Damratowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Maya Rahmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
