Softball Recap: Bleckley County's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Bleckley County dropped down to 7-2 on Wednesday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons by a score of 5-3. The Royals were not able to make up for their loss to the Gryphons from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

As for Academy for Classical Education, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Academy for Classical Education's part, Giselle Giles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Kayleigh Kell and Sydney Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Kell went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Collins went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Those four hits gave Collins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Denney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

While Bleckley County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
