Gillespie is 8-2 against Marquette Catholic since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Miners will be playing at home against the Explorers at 4:30 p.m. Gillespie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Gillespie needed a bit of extra time to put away Staunton. They had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Luke Schuckenbrock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Enslow, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Marquette Catholic lost 13-2 to Jersey on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Explorers have suffered against the Panthers since April 7, 2016.

Marquette Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keller Jacobs, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Gillespie's win bumped their record up to 16-7-1. As for Marquette Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.

Gillespie skirted past Marquette Catholic 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Miners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Explorers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
