Baseball Recap: Geneva Find Success

Geneva never let their opponents score on Saturday. They came out on top against the St. Charles East Fighting Saints by a score of 5-0. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Geneva got a great performance from Blake Kopec as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Kopec a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Bruesch, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Beran, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Geneva and bumps their season record up to 26-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for St. Charles East, their loss dropped their record down to 19-11.

Geneva will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Fighting Saints: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
