Softball Recap: Bleckley County's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bleckley County dropped to 7-3 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 6-3 to the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gryphons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on Wednesday.

As for Academy for Classical Education, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For Academy for Classical Education's part, Giselle Giles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Avery Stone and Sydney Collins did most of the damage at the plate: Stone went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Collins went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those two RBI gave Stone a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Allen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.

Bleckley County and Academy for Classical Education should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Royals will face off against Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (121 vs. 262). Meanwhile, Academy for Classical Education (ranked 105th) will meet Washington County (ranked 263rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
