Basketball Recap: Lynwood Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Lynwood Knights ended up a good deal behind the Salpointe Catholic Lancers and lost 68-53. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 197th in California, while the Lancers are ranked fourth in Arizona).

It was another big night for Sidney Anderson, who went 10 of 19 en route to 25 points for Salpointe Catholic. Those 25 points gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayci Nelson, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 17 points and three steals.

Lynwood's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Salpointe Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Lynwood will challenge Mayfair at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Salpointe Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Mary's at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Salpointe Catholic is facing St. Mary's at the right time seeing as St. Mary's is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
