Softball Recap: Gretna Victorious

Gretna won against Blair on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Dragons beat the Pius X Thunderbolts by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-4. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Thunderbolts recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Taelyn Rupiper tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddie Kurrus was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Megan Marshall was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Gretna's record is now 23-6. As for Pius X, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-15.

Looking ahead, Gretna will take on Elkhorn North at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Pius X, they will square off against Millard North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunderbolts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
