Ferndale proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 38) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 win over the Modoc Braves. The 43-point effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Tinnley Pidgeon had another great game (as she tends to do), putting up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Madison Gossi, who posted eight points.

Despite the loss, Modoc still got an impressive performance from Katie Erquiaga, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards. Erquiaga is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Vivian Huang was another key player, posting three points and four steals.

Ferndale's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Modoc, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

Coming up, Ferndale won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Trinity at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Modoc will take on Bonanza in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
