Football Recap: Jal Find Success

Jal lost to Non Varsity Opponent back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Panthers walked away with a 36-28 win over Non Varsity Opponent.

Daniel Ornelas was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 240 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 77 yards and one TD. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Another reason for the win was Jal's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Fernando Sauceda and Steven Cervantes, who racked up all four sacks between them. Jal got some further help from David Gaytan: he made 21 total tackles.

Jal's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Jal is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Van Horn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will welcome Coral Academy of Science - Reno at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
