Baseball Game Preview: Valwood Valiants vs. Baconton Charter Blazers

The Valwood Valiants are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against the Baconton Charter Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Valwood's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Fullington Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Valiants.

Camden Crump was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Triston White and Chase Helfer did most of the damage at the plate: White scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Helfer scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave White a new career-high. Dax Womack was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Valwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fullington Academy only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Baconton Charter put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Brookwood.

Baconton Charter pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Valwood, their record now sits at 2-0.

Valwood came up short against Baconton Charter in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 8-4. Can Valwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
