Santa Rosa gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Texico Wolverines by a score of 22-15. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 50-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Santa Rosa had a senior duo take command as Josh Cordova rushed for 100 yards and two TDs and David Chavez rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown.

Santa Rosa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Texico only rushed for 167 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Texico still got an impressive performance from Jett Curtis, who rushed for 109 yards and one score on only seven carries. Curtis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run.

Coming up, Santa Rosa will square off against Jal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Texico, they will take on Bovina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
