Football Game Preview: Parsons Vikings vs. Atchison Phoenix

The Parsons Vikings will head out to face off against the Atchison Phoenix on Friday. Parsons will be strutting in after a win while Atchison will be coming in after a loss.

Parsons took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Neodesha 27-6. That looming 27-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Chandler Hentzen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 187 yards and three scores. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 152 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Atchison played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Highland Park, falling 42-18. The Phoenix were down 34-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Parsons will have to contain Jeremiah Thompson as he made an impact in Atchison's last game. He picked up 89 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

The victory got Parsons back to even at 3-3. As for Atchison, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Parsons was taken down by Atchison 48-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
