Melrose faced Gateway Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Buffaloes breezed past the Warriors to the tune of 48-6. The Buffaloes pushed the score to 40-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had no chance of recovering from.

The win (which was Melrose's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points over those games. As for Gateway Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-3.
