Recap: Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles vs. Granada Matadors
After losing to the Granada Matadors the last time they met, the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Clayton Valley Charter snuck past Granada with a 46-41 win on Saturday. Given Clayton Valley Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Granada is ranked 630th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clayton Valley Charter found their leader in underclassman Ella Scott, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Scott hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Giana Marcantonio was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Clayton Valley Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Granada, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton Valley Charter will take on College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully College Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Granada, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carondelet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carondelet will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
