Baseball Recap: George Walton Academy Takes a Loss

George Walton Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Athens Christian Eagles, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 last Tuesday.

Mac Maughon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

George Walton Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Athens Christian, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

While George Walton Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
