Basketball Recap: Davis Sr. Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Davis Sr. picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They strolled past the Ponderosa Bruins with points to spare, taking the game 64-48. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bruins are ranked 284th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davis Sr. found their leader in sophomore Lorelei Nachman, who shot 55% from beyond the arc en route to 31 points along with six boards and five assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Nachman has scored at least a third of the Blue Devils' points. Riley MacDonald was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Ponderosa's loss came despite strong showings from Rowan Thomas and Ab Reding. Thomas went 7-for-14 to rack up 19 points, while Reding posted 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, Thomas now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Sadie Walton-Mari also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Davis Sr.'s victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Ponderosa, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Davis Sr. wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-43 loss against Inderkum on the 9th. As for Ponderosa, they have also already played their next game, a 46-42 win against East Union on the 8th.
