Basketball Game Preview: Juniata Valley Hornets vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates

Juniata Valley hasn't had much luck against Williamsburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Juniata Valley Hornets will challenge the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Juniata Valley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Moshannon Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Juniata Valley blew Moshannon Valley out of the water with a 52-16 final score. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Juniata Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Anderson out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. The match was Anderson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anna Taylor, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 65-60 win over the Rockets.

Williamsburg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Juniata Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Juniata Valley was dealt a bruising 63-32 defeat at the hands of Williamsburg in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Juniata Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
