Chaparral hadn't done well against Castle View recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolverines skirted past the Sabercats 9-8. The Wolverines have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sabercats, too.

Grace Carpenter looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Keegan Freitas was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Evie Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chaparral now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Castle View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will face off against Heritage at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Castle View, they will take on Legend at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Sabercats have won three straight at home, while the Titans won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
