Baseball Recap: Leo's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Leo came into Saturday's game having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let the IC Catholic Prep Knights get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Saturday. The contest marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season.

Derrick Davis III was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Leo is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-21 otherwise. Davis III was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kyle Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Leo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Leo's record now sits at 5-21. As for IC Catholic Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 19 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

Leo and IC Catholic Prep are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lions and Morgan Park, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 4:30 p.m. on the 28th. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.41 runs per game on average), something Leo will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for IC Catholic Prep, they will take on West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
