            Volleyball Recap: Thoreau Hawks vs. Zuni Thunderbirds        
        
		
        
        
            Thoreau barely beat Zuni the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp  3-0 victory on Thursday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  win against them.
 Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-11,  25-16.

Thoreau can attribute much of their success to  Payton Charley, who  had five  aces and three  digs. Those  five  aces gave  Charley a new career-high.
 Charley wasn't the only good servers: Thoreau  was lethal from the service line and  finished the match with 12  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least ten  aces in three consecutive  matchups.
Thoreau's record now sits at 9-13-1. As for Zuni, their defeat was  their fourth straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 9-12.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Thoreau is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Wingate  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Zuni will  take on  rival Newcomb  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
