California high school football: Lior Leshem of Taft leads state receiving yardage leaders

MaxPreps Player of the Week had record-breaking game on Sept. 8 with 354 yards and seven touchdowns.

Lior Leshem of Taft (Woodland Hills) leads California high school football in receiving yards with 687, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps.

The senior wideout was named the MaxPreps California High School Football Player of the Week after the Toreadors' 78-41 win over Grant (Van Nuys) on Sept. 8. In that game, he caught 10 passes for 354 yards and seven touchdowns. He also added 106 kick return yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Behind Leshem is Marquis Bradley of Ontario Christian (Ontario) with 685 yards. The junior tallied 201 yards receiving and four touchdowns last week in a 57-7 win over Bishop Union (Bishop). He also had games with 158 and 169 yards receiving for 4-1 Ontario Christian.

Senior Shawn Irwin of Hart (Newhall) and Dwayne Thompson of Northview (Covina) are the only two other pass-catchers with more than 600 yards.
