Baseball Game Preview: Jacobs Eagles vs. Rolling Meadows Mustangs

The Jacobs Eagles will square off against the Rolling Meadows Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last six games Jacobs has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Jacobs took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Crystal Lake Central.

Jace Koth was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Gulgren, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Rolling Meadows had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Huskies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Huskies since April 10, 2023.

Jack Hoeper looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luke Schneider, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Tony Romanacce was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rolling Meadows' win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Jacobs, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
