Softball Game Preview: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Castle View Sabercats

Chaparral is 2-8 against Castle View since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sabercats at 3:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Chaparral had taken Regis Jesuit down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Wolverines came up short against the Raiders, falling 13-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolverines have suffered against the Raiders since September 26, 2018.

Scarlett Hum was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Weber, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Castle View's offense. They lost 11-0 to Ponderosa on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Sabercats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Castle View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaymee Vesque, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Castle View's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Chaparral beat Castle View 9-6 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Sabercats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
