Beecher is 9-1 against Gardner-South Wilmington since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Beecher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Beecher is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since May 24, 2025 on Tuesday. They came up short against Bradley-Bourbonnais, falling 14-0. Considering the last time the Bobcats couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Beecher saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Maher, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Gardner-South Wilmington came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Timberwolves. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Cameron Gray and Reed Millette made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Gray pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Millette struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Gray has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Gray went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Millette went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Christensen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Beecher's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-10. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, their record is now 17-10.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Beecher has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Gardner-South Wilmington struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beecher came out on top in a nail-biter against Gardner-South Wilmington when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
