Football Game Preview: Valley Center Hornets vs. Maize Eagles + How To Watch

The Valley Center Hornets will take on the Maize Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Center has given up an average of 27.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Valley Center is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Derby on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Hornets were dealt a 48-19 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Panthers are ranked sixth).

Despite their defeat, Valley Center saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ray J Logan, who picked up 144 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Connor Thatcher was another key signal caller, throwing for 310 yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, Maize strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maize South 49-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Eagles just coasted through the last quarter.

Valley Center better keep an eye on Brayden Myovela. He was instrumental in Maize's win, rushing for 106 yards and three scores on only six carries, while also throwing for 208 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes. Another player making a difference was Pearce George, who gained 115 total yards and three touchdowns.

Maize was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Valley Center's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Maize, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
