Baseball Recap: Buffalo Grove Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Buffalo Grove proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Glenbrook South Titans 16-14. The victory was nothing new for the Bison as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rocco Perricone made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Buffalo Grove is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 11-17 otherwise. Perricone was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Buffalo Grove got a massive performance out of Owen Erickson, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The Bison are 3-1 when Erickson posts three or more RBI, but 10-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cole Diaz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Buffalo Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Buffalo Grove's record now sits at 13-18. As for Glenbrook South, their loss dropped their record down to 16-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buffalo Grove will take on Fremd at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Glenbrook South, they will square off against Niles North at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
