Baseball Game Preview: Summit Hilltoppers vs. Madison Dodgers

The Summit Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to challenge the Madison Dodgers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Summit came up short against Oratory Prep and fell 7-3.

Meanwhile, Madison didn't have quite enough to beat Woodbridge on Saturday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Dodgers have lost by just one run.

Michael Mejia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Madison saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Haviland, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Madison and nudges their season record down to 17-9-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-1.

Summit might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Madison in their previous matchup back in May of 2019. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
