Softball Recap: Bayard Takes a Loss

Alliance hit Bayard with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Tigers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Kaidence Lee was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Bayard's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Alliance, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-17 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Alliance beat Bayard by a score of 10-9 later that day.
