St. Andrew typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Valwood proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Valiants in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Valwood got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-27, 15-8.

Sara Daugharty paced Valwood's offense, picking up seven kills. Daugharty got some help from Abby O'Neal and her 23 assists. Carrigan Collins controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Despite the defeat, St. Andrew's saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lyleigh Bradshaw had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Bradshaw.

Valwood's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for St. Andrew's, their loss ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11.

Valwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Frederica Academy on the 27th. As for St. Andrew's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Westminster Schools of Augusta on the 27th.
