Softball Recap: North Platte Takes a Loss

North Platte dropped down to 11-11 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Ralston Rams by a score of 5-4. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Aryadnna Reyna made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Ralston, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On Ralston's side, Makenzie Macrander was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Macrander has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucy Bodnar, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Tatum Farrell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

North Platte didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-2 win against Gering on the 20th. As for Ralston, they have also already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against Seward on the 20th.
