Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Grenadiers vs. Montini Catholic Broncos
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Palatine, Elk Grove was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Montini Catholic Broncos 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grenadiers have posted since April 16, 2025.
Dylan Blazsko looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Denis Rangel was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Isaac Santowski, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Elk Grove's record is now 7-21. As for Montini Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will challenge Hersey at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
