For most high school football programs, having one former player crack a NFL roster is cause for celebration.
But for the schools featured in the list below, seeing former players take the field on Sundays is routine.
According to roster data pulled from NFL.com (which includes players on injured reserve and practice squads), 27 high schools had four or more former players in the league this season.
Florida's
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) led the way with 15, including Nick Bosa, who will lead the San Francisco 49ers defense into Super Bowl LIV on Sunday against the Chiefs. Pro Bowlers Geno Atkins and Joey Bosa also played for Aquinas.
Sunday's Super Bowl features another high school-related storyline as former teammates at the prep level will take the field for both teams.
The Chiefs will trot out
Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) products Kendall Fuller (starting cornerback) and Dorian O'Daniel (reserve linebacker) while the 49ers counter with the
Davidson (Mobile, Ala.) duo of Jimmie Ward (starting free safety) and Jaquiski Tartt (starting strong safety).'
Davidson just missed making the list below with Ward and Tartt as the school's only two current players in the league.
